Green Ponds Gives Green Light for Playground Upgrades
Green Ponds Municipal council has approved playground upgrades to Barnes Park and Yardley Park after securing government funding of $350,000, with support from local community groups and businesses. The council has pledged to inject a further $200,000 into the upgrades. Construction is scheduled to commence in March, 2017.
The upgrades will be staggered, with construction in Barnes Park commencing on 9th March. The playground facilities are expected to reopen in early April. Construction in Yardley Park will commence upon its completion. Tender has been awarded to local construction company, Synergy Construction Ltd.
Janet Seymour, Head of the Council Infrastructure and Development Team, instigated a review into the compliance of the existing and proposed equipment against Australian Safety Standards. Commenting on behalf of the council she stated, “We are excited to deliver the safe, stimulating equipment that our children deserve, whilst rejuvenating the wider community”.
